I absolutely love learning and understanding the science behind Revibe’s CBD products. Jordan is our science guy – not in title, but definitely in function. He’s like Revibe’s walking CliffsNotes for all scientific research articles.
So, I had to ask him – I know how effective our isolate CBD oils are, but why would anyone choose an isolate over a full spectrum product? Full spectrum CBD contains more parts of the hemp plant, which technically makes it a more powerful product. Seems like the obvious winner between the two.
He broke it down for me…
CBD is a derivative of the industrial hemp plant - the same plant that produces hemp seeds and hemp oil. These are the same amazing substances that provide all sorts of “superfood” health benefits... think fatty acids, like Omega 3 and 6, proteins, and minerals. By the way, one of the only ways you can get these essential fatty acids (outside of fish) is through hemp!
When you extract CBD from the plant in a full spectrum format, you retain a variety of essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, protein, chlorophyll, terpenes, flavonoids, and fiber. Full-spectrum CBD oil contains a huge array of cannabinoids, too. Cannabinoids are the natural chemicals of the hemp/marijuana plant that are responsible for the positive interaction with the endocannabinoid system in the human body.
There are 85 cannabinoids within the hemp plant, including THC and CBD (the most widely known and studied). Filtering processes remove the THC cannabinoid, but often leave trace amounts. Industrial hemp plants contain only trace amounts of THC to begin with, even before the filtering process (under .03 to be exact), not enough to cause any sort of psychoactive reaction when consumed. But, it is there and that can be an issue for some people.
For those who still want the benefits of CBD but need to avoid even trace amounts of THC in the extract, isolates are available. Isolate is an extraction process that removes only CBD from within the 84 other cannabinoids, giving you access to its health benefits without any other trace elements of the plant. Unfortunately, you lose many of the other healthy components of the plant, but you do get the CBD without any concern about trace elements of THC.
Here at Revibe, our THC-free products utilize a hybrid of these formats called Broad Spectrum. This broad spectrum fractional distillate oil features numerous cannabinoids. By breaking down the cannabinoids and terpenes into their individual compound solutions, they can then be recombined into various formulas with complete control and precision, allowing our company to individualize a particular CBD distillate blend.
